Khanui River Hot Springs is a natural thermal site along the Khanui River in the Arkhangai Region of central Mongolia, where chloride-mineral waters emerge in the fertile river valley of the Khangai Mountains, historically used as a seasonal bathing and gathering site by nomadic herding families migrating through the valley during the warm summer months. The Khanui River valley, running through one of Mongolia's most geologically active highland zones, is part of the broader Khangai geothermal network that has created numerous spring sites across the region's river systems. The pastoral landscape of the Khanui valley — with its traditional ger (yurt) settlements, horse herds, and the dramatic ridge-line of the Khangai Mountains above — creates an immersive nomadic cultural environment within which the thermal spring experience is embedded as a natural element of the seasonal herding cycle.
