Gyalgar Hot Springs is a natural thermal site in the Arkhangai Region of central Mongolia, where bicarbonate-rich hot waters emerge in the volcanic landscape near the Tsenkher River valley, one of the most developed thermal spring areas in Mongolia and part of a geothermal zone associated with the Quaternary volcanism of the Khangai Mountains. The springs in the Tsenkher area — collectively among Mongolia's most visited thermal destinations — emerge at temperatures of around 85°C before being cooled for comfortable bathing, and have been traditionally valued by bathers in both Mongolian folk practice and contemporary spa culture. The surrounding Arkhangai countryside of forested river valleys, volcanic crater lakes, and open steppe grazed by horses and yaks provides an archetypal Mongolian landscape backdrop for this high-quality natural thermal experience.
