Machhikhola Hot Spring

Machhikhola Hot Spring is a natural thermal spring at the Machhikhola River on the Manaslu Circuit trekking route in Gorkha District, Gandaki Province, Nepal, where bicarbonate-warm waters emerge alongside one of the Himalayas' most spectacular and demanding trekking circuits — a high-altitude loop around Mount Manaslu (8,163 metres, world's eighth-highest peak) through restricted areas of Buddhist Gurung and Tibetan-influenced communities. The springs provide critically valued natural bathing after the demanding river crossing stages of the Manaslu Circuit lower valley, offering trekkers an opportunity for natural hot spring recovery in the rhododendron forest landscape before the route ascends toward the Larkya La (5,106 m) high pass. The surrounding Manaslu Conservation Area protects some of Nepal's most ecologically intact Himalayan landscape and the unique cultural heritage of the Nubri and Tsum Valley peoples, whose Tibetan Buddhist traditions remain largely intact in these restricted zones.
