The Alangüllü Kaplıcası (Alangüllü Thermal Baths) are a sulphurous thermal spring bathing facility in Germencik District of Aydın Province in western Turkey, in the fertile Büyük Menderes (Maeander) valley that has been one of the most densely inhabited and geothermally active regions of the Aegean world. The sulphurous mineral waters of Alangüllü are drawn from the same geothermal system that supplies the famous Germencik and Ömerbeyli thermal baths in the district, where the Maeander rift zone brings naturally heated mineral water to the surface across a wide area. The sulphur-rich water has been used for generations by local communities within a long thermal tradition of geothermal bathing in the Maeander valley that stretches back through Roman thermae to the earliest human settlements of this productive Aegean plain.

Insider tip — Alangüllü Kaplıcası near Germencik in the Aydın province draws on the powerful sulfurous geothermal springs of the Büyük Menderes graben — one of Turkey's most intensely geothermal regions, where hot mineral water rises throughout the valley and several geothermal power plants now harness the same volcanic energy. The springs have served the ancient Maeander valley since Greco-Roman times in a landscape of figs, olives, and thermal water near the ancient cities of Magnesia and Tralles.
